Random Thoughts from November 2021

Nov 30, 2021

Hey girl HEYYYYYY!!!!  Doesn't it feel surreal that Christmas is around the corner???   SO much has happened that it seems like a long time since I last typed to you .... but a SHORT time since I retired on October 8.  Time is a BIZARRE construct isn't it???  (That might be a conversation for another day and a bottle of wine, but we are having coffee, so grab your favourite mug!!)

COFFEE TALK

This month has been a hugely transformative one.  WOW WOW WOW has a lot happened.  A lot has been sooooo gooooooood and then some other stuff has been ....  "Universal shifts to get us on the right path"

Translation:  a shit show.

Sometimes life feels heavy and awful ... but if we can hang on and keep moving forward (not retreat into fear), there is always light at the end of the tunnel, a reason for everything, a better road ahead.

This month, my kids have been moving through some more difficult times and as a mom ... holy FUCK this is hard to watch.  I spend so much time feeling fearful FOR them and trying to figure out how to navigate so that I can help them avoid the pain.  This month I have repeatedly heard the same damn two messages over and over and over again:

1) LET GO (or like the Al-Anon saying says ... "let go and let God" ... that's a good one too).  This one is HARRRRRRRD for me and let me tell ya it doesn't come easy when I'm worrying about my two zoo animals/kids.  I have to work on it daily (sometimes minute by minute).  In a meditation one time though I heard "worrying about them, only keeps them from moving forward".  Dammit ... I hate when my own inner voice gives me shit.  It's true though.

2.  It's ok to feel pain.  We CAN FEEL PAIN and still survive, ya know?  In fact, if you want the universe to hand you blessings .. you must be able to hold the flip side of pain too.  If we fear pain sooooo much that we stay small, we rob ourselves from the blessings the Universe has for us.

... and apparently I'm a slow learner cause today THIS popped up in my IG newsfeed!!!

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

One of my favourite things to talk about around this time of year is Christmas decor.  Why????

'Cause so many people tell me how overwhelmed they are at this time of year and I have an easy way to help!!

Or maybe a few ways ...

1) REPLACE vs ADD when possible:  I mentioned this in a recent post of mine but we get totally twisted around the axle when our homes are cluttered.  When we add a TON of Christmas decor to our space it can start to feel like the walls are closing in.

And then we add in people and it starts to feel like the Griswolds family Christmas.

When possible, replace some existing decor with your holiday decorations.  Store your every day stuff in the Christmas boxes.  You won't lose it and I promise you that it will feel less chaotic.

This is what I did in my living room (and a bunch of other places but I like this Santa picture so I'm showing this one here!!!

BEFORE

NOW

(This Santa picture used to belong to my mother-in-law and while it never did look like something I thought she would buy ... I have always loved it so I was happy to be able to bring it back with us last month!)

2) while red is a traditional colour for Christmas, it can feel a bit agitating if you have too much of it.   If you struggle with anxiety you can balance out the red with other colours, or you can opt for pastels, blues, creams and soft lighting.  A lot of in-your-face decorations will make you wanna smack someone in theirs ... and it's CHRISTMAS ... we try not to hit people around the holidays.  lol

COOL SHIT I LOVE:

Ok hold the phone ... this is gonna be a "welcome to my weird" section but this is my new fave thing by Routine.  Yes ... the same company that sells my favourite all natural deodorant.

An armpit scraper!!!

It looks very similar to a tongue scraper (though I would HATE to get them mixed up ... ew).

I feel like this would be a SUPER cool gift for a gift exchange or for the person who has EV-ER-Y-THING!!!  (or for the person who needs some additional help in the lymphatic drainage area which is exactly why I purchased it for myself!!!

This tool is plated with antibacterial copper and it helps to reduce build up and also helps to drain the lymphatic system.  I have to admit that at first I thought this was a weird marketing ploy but for a girl who has more cysts in her breasts than breast tissue itself (The Breast Centre Ultrasound tech referred to them as "lakes" because some of them are so large) I had nothing to lose.

Uhhhhhhhhhhh I think they're fucking working!!!!  I use the tool about 5x a week and just about 5 to 6 strokes for each armpit.  I SWEAR I have less lumps.  Super cool ... and also ... keeping your lymphatic system clear is key to good health so I'm ALL for it!!!

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME:

This month I wanna highlight one of my son's University profs.  MAN this dude is amazing!!!  This happens to be a kinesiology class and just prior to the midterm exam he sent an email to all students with THIS highlighted in it:

I don't know about you but NONE of my university profs were ever this amazing and also it made me think ... how often do we judge ourselves on the most ridiculous shit that is completely unrelated to who we ARE????  As the saying goes ...

"Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid".

Such a good reminder.

IN THE SPOTLIGHT:

I know that you know my newest program 'INTENTIONAL" began in November.  For 9 months myself and ladies who join go through and design our homes using feng shui principles so that we can use our space to help us become an energetic match to manifest our goals.

HOLY HOT FUCK this month has been amazing!!!!  Check out just SOME of the changes that we've seen!!!  Ugh I cannot wait to see what the lives of these women are like 9 months from now!!!!  (details below if you wanna join us for just one month or for all 9!!!)

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

EEEEK!!!  This month is going to be sooooo much fun!!!!  My podcast interview with Christine McCarron is being released on 12.12.2021.

"Get your FILL - Financial Independence and Long Life"

Chris has interviewed some BIG names and at first I was a little nervous.  That imposter syndrome kicks in when you least expect it!!  This was definitely one of my best though ... I can't wait for you to hear it!!

INTENTIONAL:  a month of inner peace, wisdom and self-knowledge

Eeeeeeee What a GREAT month to be talking about designing our spaces to gain inner peace and personal power!!!!   If you watch my videos you'll know that the front left corner of my home is my office.  While I LOVE it, I can definitely begin to make a few more changes to bring about the energy that I want and a representation of the goals I want to achieve.  I think this is the key .... it's not about putting away your papers, decluttering a bit and then standing back and wondering where they fuck the million bucks is that you wanted to manifest.  It's about interacting in your space DIFFERENTLY.

If you're wanting a change ... this is it.    Seriously fuckin powerful.  Are you in????    Choose one month or all 9 (to a combo of a few!!!)

INTENTIONAL: Career/Journey/Life path (month 1 only)

INTENTIONAL: 9 months to designing your life  (USD and CAD links available!!)

I truly believe the this can change your life like no other.  It is damn near impossible to change your circumstances if you're stuck in yesterday's "stuff".  ;)

TASTY SHIT!

Given that Christmas will show up before my next newsletter I HAD to give you the BEST potato recipe on the face of the planet.  Man oh man I love
them and they are so special for a holiday meal.

Deluxe Twice Baked Potatoes with Shrimp - Paula Deen

  • 4 (6-8 oz) russet potatoes, scrubbed and pricked all over with a fork
  • vegetable oil, to coat potatoes
  • 4 slices bacon
  • 1 pound large shrimp, peeled and deveined, tails removed
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon salt, plus a pinch
  • 4 green onions, thinly sliced, white and light green parts; dark green parts chopped, for garnish
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1/3 cup sour cream
  • 4 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 3/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Preheat the oven to 450 °F.

Rub the potatoes with vegetable oil and put them on a baking sheet. Bake the potatoes until tender, about 1 hour.

While the potatoes are baking, cook the bacon in a skillet over medium-high heat until crisp, about 7 minutes. Transfer the slices to a paper towel-lined plate to drain, then crumble. Pour off all but 3 tablespoons of bacon grease from the skillet.

Cut the shrimp into thirds. Reheat the bacon grease over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, Cajun seasoning, and a pinch of salt. Cook until the shrimp are opaque, stirring constantly, 2 to 3 minutes.

When the potatoes are done, let them cool slightly (leave the oven on). Slice off the top third of each potato and carefully scoop out the flesh into a bowl. Scoop out the potato from the top third, and add that to the bowl, then discard the skin. Leave about 1/4-inch border of potato inside the skin. Mash the potato flesh with 1 teaspoon salt, the green onion, cheese, butter, sour cream, mayonnaise and black pepper. Stuff the potato skins with the filling, mounding any extra on top. Divide the shrimp on top of the potatoes and sprinkle with the crumbled bacon. Return the potatoes to the oven on the baking sheet and bake them until heated through, about 15 minutes. Remove the potatoes from the oven, sprinkle with the reserved chopped green onions and serve.

Our Tips n Tweaks:

Each time I've made this I've followed the recipe exactly.  You can't mess with perfection.  ;)  One time I topped it with a whole shrimp, but that's the extent of my tweaks.  I would say best tip:  Prepare some lighter foods or salads to go along with it because this thing is RICH!!!
