June's Random Thoughts

Jun 30, 2022

Girl.  It feels like this month has gone by so quickly but yet SO much has happened.  I can't wait to tell you all the things.  Grab a seat, your latte and your sense of humour.  It's time for coffee!!!  (or ... if you're one of my ride or die's ... it's midnight ... get some warm milk or a shot of nyquil cause beauty sleep is important!)

But first ... my newsletter ;)

COFFEE TALK

Ok wow.  My youngest graduated this month.  It's WEIRD how they walk across that stage and immediately become adults in our minds, isn't it?  It was fun to watch her walk across the stage (in a pair of kick ass Micheal Kors shoes - like mother like daughter?)

As I watched her, I thought about how distracted we sometimes can be.  We miss the magic of each step that we take along the way, because we are 15 steps ahead in our minds (or have 13 thoughts running all at once).  We aren't experiencing the true magic of "the now".

So ...

We can choose to shovel popcorn into our faces and wipe our buttery hands off on our sweatpants (no judgement ... I've had my fair share) ... or we can choose to savour each kernel one at a time, followed by a sip of Pinot Noir or a Merlot.

The energy of the latter, is the one where I manifest the most amazing things.

p.s. you gotta try the popcorn paired with the merlot ... so good.

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

Have you been watching my facebook business page lately?  I've started to post quick, actionable Feng Shui tips several times a week!  This month I shared about clocks.

Overly large clocks look fabulous in a designed home, but having a giant-ass clock in your house can make you obsess about time.    If you like the look of large clocks but don't need more anxiety, consider a clock like this with a small face but a larger frame.

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES
ME:

Lately I have been really thinking of the magic of life, in the way that young kids experience things.  I think this might be why I love taking pictures of things in unexpected angles - it's like we see things literally from a different perspective.  We can freeze a moment in time that is so dang special and we get to savour it like that one piece of popcorn.  While I was on the field post game with the intent to take a picture of the post game prayer (my FAAAAAVE thing to watch), this little boy saw his dads helmet on the ground and rather than lift it, he bent down to put his head into the helmet.

It was SOOOOO freaking damn cute I couldn't help but stop to snap the picture.  It's not perfectly curated.  The dad moved in front of me ... the glove is on the ground... and random dude is in the background but yet ... it captured the sweetness of the moment so beautifully.

and then I caught this one.

Life through a camera for me, is one magical moment after another.  It reminds me to savour each moment so grab your iPhone, find a unique angle and shoot away.

COOL SHIT:

Let's switch gears ... my BeeMop broke.  I still don't really know why I use them.  Habit?  So when I mentioned to my daughter that my mop broke and I needed to go grab one at Canadian Tire she excited showed me the kind I should get.

The Vileda EasyWring Rinse/Clean Spin Mop.  (There are two different kinds ... this one is the newest one!)

I wasn't a fan right off the hop.  It looked kinda bulky.  I didn't need another pail but ..... IT. IS. MOPPING AT THE NEXT LEVEL.

You can wash the mop head.  It has a container for clean water, a foot pedal spinner which then drains into the dirty water.  There is something magical about this process cause I'm telling you my floors are SO much cleaner than they EVER were with my trusty B
eeMop.  It's said to remove 99% of the bacteria on your floors with just water.  Hmmmmmm not sure how that's possible but hey!  You never know.  For those of you who choose NOT to believe everything that a company markets you, you can use your normal cleaning solution.  I tried it with just plain water and my floors feel and look fabulous.

Side note:  did you know that some of the expensive floor cleaners you can buy at flooring companies are comprised of two ingredients:  WATER and SALT?  Do yourself a favour and skip the $29.99 for your salt water and just buy the Viileda!

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

It's the final month of INTENTIONAL and this month is when we tie all that we've done, together.  The Health gua is the one that is in the centre of your home and it "sticks" the changes that we make in the other areas.  While each of us work on our own individual goals (that's what makes this course so fun) my intention is to make changes in my space that will support less stress/more zen ... and weight release.  I am so excited to come up with exciting changes for this space!

INTENTIONAL:  Health and Wellness

This container is life time access ... and I will be adding in new trainings into each of the 9 months over time.  This is the most interactive of the courses I've done.  The girls post pictures of their spaces, the goals that they have and we give suggestions and share wins.  I. Love. It.   I'm excited to add even more as the time goes on!!!

THE NEXT LEVEL

I love working with women who have big dreams.  They are willing to lean into those next level conversations, to look at the bullshit beliefs that hold them back and they are ready to do the work to change it all.

Whether it's the dream of enriching their relationships, gaining more emotional intelligence, having world class conversations or building a 6, 7 or 8 figure business ... I am here for it.

This container is BY FAR the package that has lit me the fuck up the most ... 1:1 coaching sessions plus next level training and workshops.  It's THE THING that my clients see the quickest shifts from.  They go from stuck to instantly inspired to take action.

"Sandra THANK YOU so much for these sessions.  I have so many notes and I can't wait to get started".

"OMG this was SO good.  Wow I never thought of it in this way!"

"I was making this soooooo much harder than it had to be!"

I absolutely love the ah-ha moments the women in this group have and I'm honoured to be a small part of it.  I've got one spot left at the current investment ($155 CAD a month) and then the price goes up.

I'm ready for THE NEXT LEVEL

TASTY SHIT!

OK you guys ... I'm not much into impromptu dinner parties.  I like to plan well in advance and like to always have at least ONE thing that's a bit unique.  When people just drop over or my kids bring someone home I tend to panic a bit.

Not this month, Satan.

This month my son brought a few teammates home with him after a football game and I ROCKED it with grilled steaks, a pasta salad I made using leftover pasta and a cabbage salad.  I still needed my "one thing" but luckily I had a round loaf of bread on hand and a recipe I had wanted to try forever.

IT WAS A HUGE HIT and super easy.

CHEESE & GARLIC CRACK BREAD (PULL-APART BREAD)

INGREDIENTS

  • 1 crusty loaf of bread (round or a long loaf - sourdough works well)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (something that melts ... )
  • 8 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 (or more) garlic cloves, minced or crushed
  • 3/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley. finely chopped

DIRECTIONS

    1.  Preheat the oven or BBQ to 350F
    2.  Combine melted butter, garlic and salt, then stir in parsley
    3. cut your loaf of bread into 1" squares or diamonds, but not cutting all the way through the bread.
    4. Use fingers or a knife to pry open each crack and drizzle in a small spoon of the butter mixture into each crack.  Drop in some cheese into each crack as well.
    5. brush the surface with the remaining butter
    6. Wrap with foil and bake for 20 minutes until the cheese has mostly melted then unwrap and bake for 5-10 minutes more to make the bread nice and crusty.
    7. Serve immediately

Our Tips and Tweaks:

- MAKE AHEAD VERSION:  use softened butter (vs melted) and then slather it on the inside of each of the cuts.  Wrap and put into the fridge for up to 3 days or in the freezer.

This doesn't have to be done neatly (I was speedy gonzales when I was doing this ... definitely not savouring the magical moment here ... )

- I sprinkled the parsley on top vs adding it to the butter.  I'm not sure it made a huge difference but it did look pretty and added freshness.  I wouldn't skip the parsley no matter where you choose to put it.

- I didn't brush the surface with butter but that would have been a GREAT idea.

- I also didn't read that I should unwrap and finish it off in the oven either.

OK SERIOUSLY it's like I didn't follow the recipe process at all?!   I did use this visual though and it worked out really well.  I can't remember which site it was from so I'm apologizing in advance to the chick who I just stole it from.  OOPS!

Next camping trip or BBQ night ... you gotta try it.
