My Random Thoughts from May 2024

May 31, 2024

I love Spring (and Summer).

I love the warmer days, the budding flowers and the fact that my feet are warmer when they get covered in snow while wearing my flip flops.

COFFEE TALK

This past month we had the most spectacular display of Northern Lights.  Due to solar storms, they could even be seen in the U.S. (did you see them?)

What was most interesting to me is that to the naked eye, they looked like the green northern lights that we are used to in Alberta.

But when captured by an iPhone ... they looked like THIS!

It's not the GREATEST of pictures (I saw many better ones on the internet) but stunning nonetheless and I like that you can see stars too.

Every picture was such a representation of beauty and awe and I loved seeing people from all over the country and into the U.S. who were showing what THEY could see.

But here's what I ALSO noticed

In among the beautiful Northern Lights posts, there were a number of women (all online entrepreneurs who were in MY newsfeed) posting things on facebook like "I get it ... you saw northern lights ... who cares" and "I'm SO over all of the northern lights pictures".

That sucks, doesn't it?

So IF you were to hang out with me at the coffee shop over my decaf latte with non-dairy milk I would tell you this:

I find it SAD that we are in an age where people have a tendency to rain on someone's parade.  What happened to "if you don't have anything nice to say, say nothing at all?"  Did we stray so far from the online marketing strategy of "be polarizing" that we think it means to be negative, to shit on someone else's posts publicly or to in general, be an asshole?

The problem with this, is that many women I know (or coach) have become scared to post celebration, things they love or just post anything at all, for fear that they will be judged.

But I'd rather be judged for spreading LIGHT, than negativity and if you're reading this newsletter, I'm guessing you are the same.

So ...

If you LOVE the northern lights, or your business, a product, a picture of a honeybee, a quote or you see the magic in the extraordinary AND the mundane

SHARE THAT SHIT

Don't worry about what some asshat on the internet says.

All of us can use a bit of "awe" from time to time.

BE THAT GIRL who shares it.

and if you're needing a bit of light-heartedness and a reminder not to take yourself so seriously ... my client shared this a few weeks ago.  :)

It was a hit immediately - check out the shares within 10 hours!!!

While I'm at it ... this one made me laugh too.  I want land just so I can post this on it!

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

One of my private clients had a goal of leaving her ski town in Colorado and moving to start fresh somewhere else.

She had no idea where that would be ... but knew intuitively that this is what she and her family needed.  My advice:  prepare your home to MOVE.

It becomes SO MUCH HARDER to release one home, if you've got it full of memories and "stuff" you don't need.  (Same goes for if you are trying to sell your existing home - de-personalize and declutter first!!!)

She started making room for opportunities and BAM ... within a short period of intentionally decluttering, they purchased a home across the country and are moving at the end of the school year.

... and now we are using the power of feng shui to design her home intentionally in order to match the goals she has set for herself.  Ahhhhh I love this so much.

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME

This past month in my membership group (The Powerhouse) we focused on using Feng Shui, emotional regulation and our thoughts to create a state of internal personal power.

LAST week was all feng shui and THIS week I shared my thoughts on what happens when we freeze or procrastinate.  It was inspired by THIS quote by Gary Vee:

If you buy a book and something inspires you from it ... TAKE ACTION.

If you sign up for a course and you love what you've learned ... TRY IT.

If you choose CHANGE ... be all about it.

5 - 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 ... GO.

You deserve what's on the other side of that effort.

COOL SHIT

A good friend, extremely talented intuitive counsellor (and young adult whisperer, as I like to call her) Kristy, suggested this PEMF mat would be incredible for my son.  It helps with healing, sleep, removing unwanted energy that you can pick up from others ... it's a miracle mat, pretty sure.

It was definitely an investment (aka not cheap) but WHOA I'm obsessed with it and he uses it every day.

It has infrared heat, crystals and charcoal in the mat as well as settings for alpha, beta, delta and theta healing.

He sleeps a lot better, falls asleep quicker and while it's hard to tell exactly, it seems as though he is less sore after his two hour workouts!

Potential benefits include:
Reduced stress
Increased energy
Better sleep
Improved circulation
Improved muscle recovery

It didn't fix him completely cause he's still a smart ass ... but he's cute so we let it slide.

** Some alternative health locations have these mats that you can try out.  I THINNNNNK my naturopathic doctor actually has one in her office, but you can just google "PEMF Therapy + your location" and check it out!  Chiropractors, physiotherapists, ND's and acupuncturists have them sometimes!

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

This month in The Powerhouse Membership we worked in the Widsom/Self-knowedge gua of our homes.  If you're looking for more time to yourself, to be able to HEAR your inner guidance, to feel more zen ... this is your month, girl!!  (AND ... you can access the replays if you sign up now)

The girls have also started sharing things in the group and so it's not only just ME yapping about what I know but it's them adding their own personal flair in.  I love just going into the group throughout the week as a little bit of fun in my day.

This was a picture of the mug one of our Powerhouse women was served her coffee in.  HAHA  super cute.

In June, we will be working on the Family/Ancestors area, mindset and actually I might talk about accessing your loved ones who have passed on (did you KNOW I took a course on this?).  This month is all about:

ACCESSING YOUR PERSONAL POWER
FINDING YOUR STRENGTH IN THE PAST
HARNASSING and USING it to propel you forward

$20 CAD/month.  Cancel at any time.

The women are loving it!

I'M READY TO BECOME A POWERHOUSE

2) and if you join The Powerhouse OR The Next Level (my private coaching) you will get access to my Power of You private podcast.  I designed it so that women in a few of my coaching containers had access to me at their fingertips.

If you aren't in either of those containers but you'd still like access to a few of my meditations, some quick hits of inspiration, $9 CAD will get you access!!!   I will be adding some quick mindset shifts that will help you control the circling thoughts, so you won't feel like a big bag of dogshit.  The goal is ALWAYS to feel good.

** If you are in my private coaching container (THE NEXT LEVEL), THE POWER OF YOU or THE POWERHOUSE ... you have access already!  Look to your respective groups for details on how to access it.

TASTY SHIT!

My daughter and I have tried a number of recipes this month and we have a lot more on the list as well.  We couldn't decide which one to share this month (she always helps me choose) but THIS one seems pretty darned quick and cool and perfect for summer or for camping ... and you don't need to peel/chop potatoes!  Win win win ... unless of course you WANT to peel and chop.  Then I think you should.  I mean, you know me, I'm all about doing what YOU want.

Loaded Baked Potato Salad w/ Homemade Ranch

Potato Salad Ingredients

4 potatoes, diced, boiled and drained (OR a big bag of hasbrowns cooked)
1 lb bacon, cooked and crumbled
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
3 hard boiled eggs (peeled and chopped)
1/2 cup green onion

Ranch Dressing

1 cup mayo
1/2 cup sour cream
1 tbsp fresh dill, chopped
1-1/2 tsp garlic powder
1-1/2 tsp onion powder
2 tsp dried parsley
1-1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp sugar

Directions

- Add cooked and chopped ingredients to a large bowl.  (*** leave a bit of the cheese, bacon and green onion for a topping plus a few sprigs of fresh dill ... cause you know ... we eat with our eyes too***)
- In a separate medium sized bowl, mix together dressing ingredients until combined.
- Pour over and toss until everything is coated.
- Chill for at least 2 hours before serving.

Our Tips and Tweaks:

- I personally love my potato salad a little more chunky and a little less ... mushy.  HOWEVER, if you're short on time (or you're camping and don't want to go through the pain in the ass of dicing and boiling the potatoes) I'd say go with the hashbrowns!!  I see that they are good enough for the Pioneer Woman Ree Drummond ... they MUST be good enough for us.

- we used what we had left of a bag of baby potatoes and then some other larger yukon golds - we diced them to around 3/4" and they kept their shape nicely.  I'm too lazy to peel potatoes so we left the peels on!

- the picture of the recipe looked a little better than mine, only because they used bagged shredded cheese and I think the shorter strands looked nicer.  If you care about the aesthetics, I'd go for the bagged!

- we loved the homemade ranch for this recipe but if you're camping or short on time ... does the ranch you use REALLY matter?  I think not.  Grab your favourite bottle and give it a go.

If you try it, or tweak it I'd love to hear what you do!  Take a picture and send it to me!
