Random Thoughts from August 2020

Aug 31, 2020

Hey girl HEYYYYYYYY!    How in the HECK have you been in these last 31 days???  I feel like this is the longest month ever - so much happened!!

We moved our son into the most beautiful condo in Edmonton.  At 17 yrs old he is now living on his own, (hopefully remembering to lock the front door) and he is literally the busiest kid I know.  WOW WOW WOW, when they say that Student-Athletes in University are the most stressed out on campus, I can now see why!!!  His schedule is CRAZY, even without being able to play any games this year.  Team workouts, team tutoring, team runs and practices in ADDITION to online classes.

(Note:  I am refusing to talk about how I cried that whole day when we left him there, how much I miss him AND our 2am chats ... or how empty his room feels ... )

EEEESH.

One day, I was taking him to his first soccer practice at 3 yrs old and the next day ... he's living on his own.  I swear it happened that fast.

Anyway, I've got my Golden Bears cheering gear (for next season when they can hopefully play games again), I'm choosing to focus on the positives and I'm gonna keep myself busy.

GO BEARS!!!

Now ...

It's time for ... COFFEE TALK!

COFFEE TALK

This month I've been talking to a number of clients and friends who are all going through the same stuff as me ... we are WORRYING about shit we cannot control.

Now, when I tell you that I'm an expert at this worrying thing ... I truly truly am.   You cannot believe the crazy shit that I have mentally thought through (aka planned out), in an attempt to a) prepare myself so I could be "ok" when something devastating happened or b) try to anticipate all that could go wrong, try to ensure that everyone on the planet adjusts themselves so that I can avert a potential devastating outcome.

(I realize this is fucked up ... just in case you're wondering).

Now here's the thing:  It is extremely RARE that I'm worrying about myself.  I'm usually worrying about others and most often my kids.

(Remember last paragraph when I was telling you about the fear I have of my 17 yr old not locking the front door??  I can tell you 92 things that can potentially happen when one leaves the door open ... none of them included a neighbour popping in with a home cooked meal ...)

What I heard so clearly in a meditation last week though, was this:

In order to release the pattern, you must release the fear.

In that instant I realized that SO OFTEN we, as parents, spend a shit ton of time worrying about all of the things that could go wrong for our kids, thinking about the potential pitfalls we want them to avoid and thinking about the mistakes they are headed for.

HOWEVER ... if we continue to feed the fear ... we continue to emit the vibration to the Universe of the very thing we DON'T WANT.

It's like praying for something we DON'T want.

That realization was a turning point for me ... it was the moment I realized that in order to help my kids ... the only thing I can do is to stop worrying and sit in FAITH.

WORRY, FEAR and GUILT?  They are the lowest vibrational frequencies and they will pull you AWAY from what you actually want and TOWARD the thing you are fearing.

When we focus on FAITH ... that everything will turn out the way it is meant to ... When we focus on high vibrational frequencies and send out LOVE ... the Universe will respond in kind.

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

Last month in this newsletter, I sent you the links to some of my favourite lives of the month where I talked about hidden affirmations, my wallet feng shui and so much more.  ONE of my friends recently received $10,000 after just a FEW of the changes I suggested last month.  A client of mine removed old bills (stagnant, scarcity energy) from her wealth area and within MINUTES ... made a $1000 sale.  That's just a FEW of them!

I'm telling ya ... your space is truly the missing link.

There are a TON of cool "cures" for any situation and the more creative and fun they are, the more I want to try them out.   I share a ton of them in my Membership that are never seen before.  This is just an example!

Can you tell why I love this Membership so much????  It's my invitation to share the REALLY fun creative stuff.

COOL SHIT I LOVE:

OK ...how many of you Americans have GOODR sunglasses???

I just heard about them this month from a friend of mine. She said she love love loves them waaaaaay more than her Oakleys and insisted that I try them. They are designed for running (or sports in general), they are polarized, they have the option to try them on "virtually" (which, was super fun) and they are only $25 US.

What's better ... I love the vibe of the company!!! The glasses have crazy names, they have a cheeky and sarcastic sense of humour and they make me want to read through the whole site!!! (They've even made the Covid-19 shipping update fun somehow haha).

I can't remember EXACTLY which ones I ordered but I THINK these are them!  Name:  "the Nine Dollar Pour Over".   The site says they are good for Trail, Road and Avocado Toast Runs!!!  I'm in ... I love a good avocado toast.

WHAT'S NEW?  They now have a distributor in Canada as well!!  Initially I thought this was fabulous given that my order has been sitting in Florida for three weeks ... however ... the Canadian site isn't NEARLY as fun so if you're Canadian like me, do your soul a favour ... browse the US site for FUN and then order from the Canadian one for quicker delivery  ;)

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME:

Gosh.  A lot of things have inspired me lately.

- my oldest ... going off to University at 17 and living alone (I was 17 when I left as well, but I had a roommate).  He has not one but THREE learning disabilities... and yet un-matched grit.  GRIT wins every time.  I truly believe that.

- a client and friend who, amid anxiety and fear, continues to show up every damn day in her business.

- a client and friend who had strayed from her path, but recognized that in doing so, she lost a bit of herself.  She's taking steps to get BACK to doing what she is so very gifted at (shaman work) and I cannot WAIT to refer more people to her!!!!  Seriously ... this chick can change your life.

- Brene Brown's Netflix Special "The Call To Courage".   I love her honesty, her humour and the Theodore Roosevelt quote that she claims changed her life.   I am ALSO inspired by people who are in the arena with me ... each one of you who takes a risk to do something that you LOVE, who takes a risk

"I'm not going to bullshit you.  Vulnerability is hard and it's scary and it feels dangerous.  But it's not as hard, scary or dangerous as getting to the end of our lives and having to ask ourselves ... what if I would have shown up?"    Brene Brown

SO. SO. GOOD.  I don't want to ask that question at the end ...

CLIENT SHOWCASE:

AHHHHH I am always so excited to get messages from members in the UNSTUCK group who say that I've inspired them to start something new (or revive something old).  Jenna O has decided to create a business doing something she loves ... crafting!  She has been doing cool things like different types of painting techniques which I find so fun (spin painting, string/chain painting) glass etching, vinyl projects, string designs, cement items and more.

What I love even more???  She is creating a Vision Board to help her design this new life of hers!!!!

Check her out here:

Strung Up Designs by Jenna

p.s. Jenna I may need to work with you to create something for my husband's new office.  I'm not digging the educational fish posters from Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation that he's got his eye on .... wtf?!?!?

These are some of my faves from her page so far!!

Remember:  when you step into your special brand of magic ... when you listen to the whispers and follow your soul's path ... the Universe begins to respond with most incredible gifts.

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

Recently I've taken a course on the Akashic Records which I find completely fascinating.  The Akashic Records have been dubbed "the Google Search For your Soul" and "the most powerful tool in your spiritual toolkit".  For me, it's like the BEST most FUN way for me to open myself up to being able to listen to my intuition.

Imagine ... being in a meditation where you can ask any question you may have ... and the answers are available to you.  No ego involvement.  No judgement.  No fear.  THIS is what the akashic records library is to me.

When I go into this type of meditation, it feels like my soul DANCES ... I'm so happy to be there in that moment and my I receive the most incredible intuitive messages.

AND THIS IS WHAT I'M TEACHING YOU TO DO THIS MONTH!!!!!

Akashic Record Training PLUS a meditation to help guide you to do this yourself.  AHHHHHH I can't wait for you to try it too!!!!

TASTY, HEALTHY AND OH SO SPECIAL:

A number of years ago, a friend of mine had invited me over for a dinner party before she moved away.  She wanted to serve a special dinner for a few of the women who had helped her in some monumental way ... and I was lucky enough to be one of them.

She served the meal in courses, plate service, on fine china, with wine pairings and it really did feel like we were royalty that day.  This salad was one of the dishes we had and I've made it ever since.  I have no idea if it had an actual name or if it was her creation but ... I gave it a name.

DIANE'S WEST COAST SALAD

("West Coast" cause it reminds me of something I would have in Vancouver)

Salad:

 - mixed greens
- avocado, sliced
- canned hearts of palm, sliced into circles
- canned artichoke hearts, quartered (I trim the tougher top parts off)
- grape tomatoes, sliced in half, lengthwise

Vinaigrette (measurements are all approx ... I kinda eyeball it):

- 3 parts extra virgin olive oil (1-1/2 cup)
- 1 part white balsamic vinegar (1/2 cup)
- 2-3 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 tsp turmeric (makes it pretty)
- 1 tbsp old fashioned dijon mustard (the grainy kind)
- 1tbsp caesar salad dressing (optional, if you want it creamier)
- 1/4 tsp celtic sea salt (or regular salt if you prefer)

Mix the vinaigrette ingredients in a glass bottle or jar with a lid.   Shake it till it's mixed well.

Just prior to serving, toss the mixed greens gently with the vinaigrette.  Use your "fairy fingers" as Jamie Oliver calls them ... gently as you can, toss them with your fingers.

Grab your pretty plates, then plate the greens.  Place the remaining salad ingredients on top. I try to place the toppings so that they aren't perfectly arranged, but it's clear they are placed with intention.  Channel your inner Gordon Ramsey here, girl ... it's a SPECIAL SALAD.

** if you're a basil fan, feel free to add a bit of julienned basil leaves as well.  GO CRAZY!!  ;)

Well that's it for this month of random thoughts!!    Once again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you SO much to all of you who regularly email me, recommend my group, my courses, my coaching or this newsletter to your friends and colleagues, your biz besties and your family.  I appreciate every one of you and every message I receive.

Giving the world good energy,
