Random Thoughts from February 2023

Feb 28, 2023

You know those months, that seem to fly by so quickly you're not even sure WHAT the hell happened?

That wasn't this month for me.  I was busy!

In one month, I:

started a new Beachbody Pilates workout
quit caffeine (this isn't a win for me, I don't think)
recorded 8 podcast episodes
took a 4-week course on mediumship (Uhmmm I'm GOOD at it)
expanded my branding knowledge to further assist my clients
returned to daily meditation
improved my sleep by 29062892%
saw my doctor who said I was in perfect health
been SO excited to see the progress for my clients
had new people join THE POWER PROJECT

It felt like I experienced soooo much!!!  There's a reason for it!

This month in INTENTIONAL we worked on our Journey/Career/Life Path area of our home.  My focus was improved health/energy and expanded reach/fulfilment in my business.

See the connection???

Feng Shui ... it's fuckin magical.

COFFEE TALK

Often I have women reach out to me, asking me to go for coffee "if I'm ever in their city/province/country/state".  This is the MOST flattering compliment ever and it's a sign of a good strong brand (did you know that?)

So if you're one of those chicks (which I know you are) and you ever wanted to go for coffee with me ... you'll quickly find out that I find small talk a waste of time.  I wanna know what you think, what your dreams are, what stresses you out, pisses you off and more importantly ... what makes your soul sing.   I like the deep philosophical discussions on life and what we THINK about stuff.

So, if you went for coffee with me this month, I may have talked about the trend I've seen online lately ... women calling other women demeaning names, in an effort to connect with them.

I mean, I noticed this before (I didn't live under a rock until 2023) but I have REALLY noticed it emerging more and more lately.

Ex:  I got myself on an email list where the entrepreneur opened it up by saying "yo bitch", I noticed a post online where the person started out by saying "hey slutbucket" (WTF?) and every day I'm seeing some form of subconscious attack from women, against women.

I understand that I'm in my 50's and the world is different now.  I also understand that this is MY opinion alone and I hope that you feel the freedom to form your OWN (always that is my hope).

But to me, there's no room for women degrading other women, even in an effort to connect or be funny.

Words ... MATTER.  No matter the tone, no matter the fun intention, no matter the familiarity.  Words matter and I think we can do better.

It wasn't actually too long ago that we were "allowed" to VOTE ya know?  So I think we can strive to ensure that what we are saying is empowering, not diminishing, as much as humanly possible.  We women are powerful and should always be encouraged to step into it.

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

My husband and I have been talking about renovating our house recently.

(and by recently, I mean ... since we moved in in 2008)

You know how it goes though ... when we moved in we needed new flooring and a backsplash.   But we thought that if we were going to redo the flooring, that we should get new baseboards.  New baseboards turned into new trim.  All of a sudden we need new floors, cupboards, sink, countertops, backsplash and all new windows and all new doors.

Basically, it's just easier for us to move.

We aren't ... so this is what I want you to know when you're considering any renovation:

1.  choose the vibe that you want for your house, in the colour scheme that you love.  I don't care if every designer home is white ... your house should feel like YOU, not every designer.   Currently I'm loving this linen colour with the dark grey accents.  (It's a far cry from the caramel we've got going on right now, which my daughter says is like the inside of a foundation bottle ....).  It's time for an update!

2.  Pay attention to the bagua map when you're choosing colours and elements ... just for REFERENCE.  If you love the idea of painting a room in a corresponding colour then DO IT.   If you wanna paint everything in linen, do THAT.  Use the bagua map to ensure balance in your home .. know what WOULD work (where and why) but loosen up a bit.  Don't stress too much over it at all.  It's not gonna bring you bad luck ... remember we don't believe in "fear shui" around here.

WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME

I saw this cool post one day and instantly had to find the origin of it.

This boys name is Joe Whales, known as The Doodle Boy.  Frustrated with the lack of art that he was allowed to do in school, he started doodling in class (which he got into trouble for).  His parents continued to encourage him though and they enrolled him in an after-school art class where the teacher noticed his talent right away.  The teacher showcased his artwork on instagram and a restaurant owner reached out asking him to do a full wall in their dining room!  VOILA

(Dining room of the ‘Number 4’ restaurant in Shrewsbury, England)

His dad took him every day after school to work on this dining room wall.  Every single character is different and the wall is HUGE (initially he said that he thought it would be a small patch on a wall but it was the whole dang wall they wanted him to do!)

What I love sooooooo damn much about this story is that even at age 9, he knew where his gifts, his passion was - his parents recognized it and encouraged him to continue in spite of the teachers telling him to stop.

He now is illustrating for a book series called "Bad Food" and he's had collaborations with Nike, Pixar, Scholastic and Disney.  He's created murals and his artwork is in a museum now.

HE'S TWELVE NOW.

My private clients will know that ... when you follow your passion and step into your authentic self ... MAGIC FREAKIN HAPPENS.

Go back ... think about the things that you used to do and LOVED.  Can you add more of THAT to your every day??

You can check out more of him on Instagram here!

FUN STUFF from the INTERWEBS

Speaking of fun cool stuff, here are a few of the things that I liked this month from my social media newsfeed.

This cracked me right up.  SOOO funny (and accurate)

Okay I swear I was JUST thinking about this the other day.  I don't recall the last time I used a butter knife because we have 867202 screwdrivers in the garage, but it was JUST as handy to use the knife.  My kids don't know what they are missing out on ...

Soooo cute!

I sent this meme to my friend because I would swear that this is how I remember her in the 90s.  LOL.  Love her so much.

I love the sassy kids, but it is WEIRD to think that gas cars will be gone one day isn't it?  It's like we're living the life of The Jetsons now.  crazy!

COOL SHIT

Ok so I mentioned that one of my focuses this year is to improve my health and increase my energy (and lose this perimenopause weight).   One of the things that I knew I needed to do was focus more on SLEEP.

Have you ever really looked at the BENEFITS of great sleep?  There are a ton of them and here's just a FEW:

- better immunity
- skin looks healthier
- metabolism increases
- regulates hormones
- reduces anxiety
- increases empathy
sustained attention
- improved reaction time

Somehow, my friend and I were talking about this and she mentioned that she was using the RISE SCIENCE SLEEP APP.

Rise doesn't consider each days sleep or sleep efficiency as much as it considers your SLEEP DEBT and CIRCADIAN RYTHYM.

It calculates how much sleep you need, then notes your sleep each night based on your phone movement (you adjust for naps etc too).

I am in love with this dang thing and it's crazy accurate!  The website says that 80% of users feel the benefits in 5 days.  I did as well!

This below, is a screenshot that my friend sent me after not paying attention to her app for quite some time.  It catches up on you that sleep debt!!!  She said "no wonder I feel like I have no energy!"

So I joined for the free 7 days to just see what it was like.  Initially I was down quite a bit (5 hours even) but after focusing more on my sleep and taking naps if I needed to reduce my sleep debt ... this is what I was able to get down to!!!

.1 hour sleep debt and 100% energy potential!!  I felt GREAT this day by the way!

If you would like to try it I have one free gift to give away for an extended 30 days trial. HERE is the link for the first person to take it.

Everyone else can try it for 7 days for free!!!

Now ... if you're wanting to sign up long term ... DO NOT ACCEPT THE AUTO-CHOSEN 79.99 membership.  Go into your subscriptions section on your phone, go to RISE and flip it to a cheaper option!!!

It's the same dang thing ... just different prices.  Sneaky devils those app people are, hey???

YES I WANNA DESIGN MY HOME WITH SANDRA!

The Power Project is entering month 3 and WOW the cool things we are finding!!!

I've added in a couple of meditations, we've added in some ways to connect to angels through journalling and just in general ... we are finding out a lot about ourselves.  Here's one example:

... and here's the thing:

We ALL have moments where we go through life on auto-pilot.  A client of mine said today that a post she read said "we are either surviving or creating" and this certainly can feel true.  SOMEtimes we are so busy being busy that we don't TRULY sit and take 5 minutes for ourselves and take stock of our life.  When we do ... it's completely eye-opening!

If you want to truly transform your life by creating a miracle morning for yourself ... this is the group.

I created it because I NEEDED it and it's already changing my everything.  Are you in?

I WANNA CHANGE MY OWN DAMN LIFE

OKAY ... there is something so freakin unreal about private coaching.  We laugh together, we cry together and I swear that when these women start to see huge success (personally or professionally) I am even more excited than they are.

It's the partnership that you never you knew you needed, ya know???

But also I felt this strong need to offer coaching to women who weren't ready to jump ... they just wanted to dip their toe in the water and see what it was like.

I WELCOME that.

I WANT you to feel comfortable and empowered to make your own decisions.

So, I have developed a coaching suite that provides you with three different options + varying access to the workshops and courses that I have created.  You choose your level and we work within it.  It lights me the hell up, I tell ya and we're just getting started.

TASTY SHIT!

CAST IRON PIZZA

This is a quick tip more than anything but WOW if you've got a cast iron pan you GOTTA try it.  This was actually a Hello Fresh option that my kids had (and I made).  It was a leek and fresh mozzarella pizza with chopped yellow peppers.  Nothing fancy or spectacular, but the cast iron option was WORTH IT.

Ingredients:

raw pizza dough (seriously, buy it at the bakery if you're short on time)
pizza sauce, pesto, alfredo sauce (your choice)
your fave toppings
olive oil (for the pan)

Preheat oven to 350F

Grease your cast iron pan with a bit of olive oil to coat the bottom.  Transfer the dough into it and just press it all the way to the edges of the pan and slightly up the sides.  Spread your sauce of choice on the bottom of the dough, then add your favourite toppings.  Bake for 20-25 minutes or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Our Tips and Tweaks:

This was the first time that we've tried leek and mozzarella pizza.  It wasn't too bad at all but had I known that I would choose to share it with you this month, I would have fancied it up a bit more!  Topping it with some fresh arugula or julienned basil would have been a nice touch.

We loved the fresh mozzarella on this pizza.  Slice it as thinly as you can and just place it around the top.

Next time I think I would scatter a tiny bit of cornmeal on top of the olive oil in the pan.  It was missing that different texture on the bottom of it and I really think that would have made a big difference!

If you try it, or tweak it I'd love to hear what you do!  Post a pic on your social media and tag me!
