Random Thoughts from November 2020

Nov 30, 2020

Holy MOLY!!!

It's been a super busy month and for the past few days I've been shopping up a storm for Black Friday and Cyber Monday.  I got some super cool gifts this year including a makeup subscription box for my daughter and a kumoso pendant for myself!  (One for them ... one for me ... one for them .... more for me lol)

COFFEE TALK

When I was younger my whole family called me Sandy.  Although at some point I decided that I wanted to be called Sandra ... I STILL love it when my old friends and family members call me by my old nickname.

This month though, I earned a new one:  CANADA!!!!!

Full disclosure, she started calling me Canada because I'm her first Canadian customer in her Ziya biz, but ... WHATEVER the reason ... I'm telling you it's SO FUN and flattering to me and it's a sign that she knows me well.

While I love my American friends and the places I've been in the States ... I truly adore being Canadian.  You'll find a Canadian flag on my IG account AND you'll notice that my prices are always in Canadian funds.

It's likely not the most savvy marketing technique.  I mean, if I priced my shit in USD the prices would "appear" much lower.  ($1111 CAD is only $856 USD)  Psychologically this makes more sense for me to price things in USD and truthfully ... most of my clients are Americans so it's a bit confusing for them.  But HERE is the thing ...

I live in Canada.  I receive my money in Canadian funds.  It bugs me when Canadians price their products in USD - somehow it seems unpatriotic to me???? AND ... at the end of the day all of my American friends will feel like they get a smokin' deal at the checkout.  LOL.

My message to you today though is ... to always do what YOU want.  Fuck the rules, the marketing, the strategy.  Screw what your past business coach tells you worked for HER and how you MUST follow her exact script.

You don't have to do anything you don't want to.  You get to decide.

Now ask yourself:  How can this life feel even better?  What decisions can I make that are totally in alignment with who I am at the core of my being?  What do I believe is right for ME?

And then DO the damn thing.

Cause you're awesome like that ...

FENG SHUI TIP OF THE MONTH

Given that Christmas is coming I thought I would chat quickly about the dining room area!

One of the BEST places for a mirror is to hang it behind your dining room table.    It's a HUGE yes!!  Mirrors double the energy of whatever they reflect and what we eat is thought to be representative of our wealth!!!  Placing a mirror behind your table therefore is a REALLY good cure to increase your wealth!

COOL SHIT I LOVE:

This month my husband came home with a number of bags of these magnesium flakes.  They are a little pricey to be honest and initially I doubted the necessity of them.  I assumed that they were similar to adding epsom salts and baking soda to your bath.

APPARENTLY NOT!!!  My 18 yr old swears by magnesium flakes in the bath for relaxation, improved sleep and easing sore muscles.  My daughter (who adores baths) loves the luxuriousness of the water with these in there.  #wortheverypenny ... even just for these two reasons, but there is more.  As it turns out MOST of us are deficient in magnesium and transdermal absorption (through the skin) is the most affective way of increasing it!

Plus ... they LOOK cool too.

 WHAT (or who) INSPIRES ME:

Currently, what is inspiring me is HALLMARK MOVIES, random chick-flicks and rom-coms.  What the hell has happened to me???  I was never one to watch them until this year and now it's literally all that I've got on the tv.  I'm PRETTY sure my husband thinks I've lost it (though if I have ... I won't notice it anyway, so who the fuck cares???).  Anyway, I would MUCH rather watch these feel good movies than the news.  That likely means I'm completely oblivious to most current events, but I'm sure one of you will tell me if something important happens.  Until then ... I'm happy in my little bubble.

oh and p.s. in our happy bubble is when we manifest the great stuff ... ;)

CLIENT SHOWCASE:

Every month I try to showcase a client who stands out to me as being someone who will light the world on fire.  This month I had the opportunity to work with so many incredible women and it's been getting harder and harder to decide on just one.  (Also let's face it ... I'm a libra ... it takes me 30 minutes to decide what pants to wear and I WORK FROM HOME!!!!).

HOWEVER ... as I looked back over the month and all of the work that I've done, this same girl kept popping up in my mind.

Katie came to me for a Breakthrough Call.  She has been inspiring, encouraging and helping women take care of themselves body, mind and soul while recovering from a severe injury herself but she wanted to step into more ... to calm all of the ideas she had floating around in her mind about WHAT do do and HOW to make it happen.

Here is a little from the post that goes along with this picture (you'll see why I adore her):

"Hi.  I'm Katie Lane.  I'm 27 years old and I started sharing my journey when things got real bad less than 2 years ago.  I have been recovering from a severe back injury and sharing all aspects of the healing process.

What I've realized over the last 2 years is that all of this was meant to happen to me.  This was meant to happen to me so that I could be exactly where I am right now writing this.

I know I am here to help people.  To help people sort through their struggles and maybe make sense of the things that don't."

Katie thinks deeply, but is funny as hell, she's so freakin cute I can't stop staring at this picture, she's as REAL as any person I've ever met and her IG bio says:

KATIE LANE - your new friend

Yep ... it sums her up in three words.

By the end of the session, she was so much more clear on where she was going, who she could help and how she could help them (without burning herself out in the process) but also ... how she could truly make a bigger impact by letting go of what was no longer serving her.

I'm so inspired by her story and her willingness to show up EXACTLY as she is.  Go show her some love by following her on instagram and do yourself a favour ... watch her stories!!!  They are SUCH a good mix of fun, funny, real and raw ... I love them and you will too.

WHAT'S COMIN UP?

THIS month I launched THE POWER OF YOU.  This program has become SO MUCH MORE than I ever thought it would be.   The women in the group are so phenomenal.  They are doing the DEEP work ... the stuff that isn't always easy to move through but it changes your freakin life when you do.  I'm SO in love with this program you have no idea.  I run it live, I meet them where THEY are and I think I will run the next ones in the same way.  It feels the most authentically me and I LOVE to be able to respond in real time and adjust my content to best support the girls in my programs.

The month of December is officially the last month of my 2020 membership.  I love the work that I've put into it.  I love the powerhouse women that I have had as guests and the best of the best of my videos from the past few years have been added in.

What's cool????  I'm leaving ALL this goodness there and will be adding to it monthly.  EEEEK I love the up level that this is bringing me, you and us!  Check out the goodies in the Membership!

TASTY SHIT!

So you know that I love Jamie Oliver.  I mean ... he's got amazing recipes (he's dyslexic ... and totally in his zone of brilliance).    He is so rustic, and casual and I love how much he LOVES food.

Well ... he's not the ONLY chef that I watch.  Bobby Flay is my other BFF.  His recipes are more complex, often take a lot of time and he makes everything from scratch (and a lot of times it's sauces and butters and coulis).  THIS one my husband made last week and we really liked it so I thought I would share it with you here!!!  (I like for you to get the BEST of things so that you can wow your family and friends!)

BOBBY FLAY'S ROASTED GARLIC-OREGANO VINAIGRETTE

8 cloves roasted garlic
1/4 cup white wine vinegar
1 tsp honey
2 tbsp fresh oregano leaves
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp red chile flakes
3/4 cup extra virgin olive oil

Combine the garlic, vinegar, honey, oregano, salt and chile flakes in a blender and blend until smooth.  With the blender running, slowly drizzle in the olive oil and process until emulsified (or leave it a slight bit chunky like we have here).  This mixture can be made 1 day in advance, kept in the fridge.  Bring it to room temperature before serving!

We grilled chicken and then spooned this vinaigrette over top.  It was SO tasty (and given that I usually overcook the shit out of anything I throw on the BBQ ... it is a handy trick to add a bit of moisture to your chicken too lol).
